the future of music...

When I grow up/am reincarnated (I know, I know), I want to be a Percussion Player!

I was hitting things for the hill orchestra tonight, an imaginary bass drum (that will be real on friday, hopefully), triangles and cymbals. It's fun, and you don't have to worry about pitch. It's also quite amusing, because when you're not playing much (and the conductor isn't cueing you anyway), you come in at will, play whatever you like, so long as it sounds alright, and the orchestra follow your tempo. Interesting though how it takes half the orchestra at least 3 bars to get in time with the conductor/percussion when you come in.

Percussion is fun, and us percussionists rock! Be a percussionist! Have tempo wars with the conductor!

I once tried to teach [info]salmakia the drums, but I didn't quite learn left-handed fast enough...

The conductors think they have the power - they couldn't be more wrong!

of course we'll be in time, the question is whether the conductor and the rest of the orchestra will be in time with us!
